Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel and slice the potatoes into even rounds, about a quarter-inch thick.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat, add garlic and onions, sautéing until translucent and fragrant.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potatoes, sprinkle with sautéed garlic and onions, half of the cheeses, and season with salt and pepper. Repeat with remaining potatoes and cheese.
- Carefully pour heavy cream over the layered potatoes for even distribution.
- Cover with foil and bake for about an hour. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- Let sit for 10 minutes before serving to meld flavors.
