Ingredients
Scale
- 2 apples (Granny Smith or Fuji), peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk (or almond/oat milk)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the apples: Peel, core, and dice your apples into small, uniform pieces.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Combine wet ingredients: In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Combine mixtures: Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Fold in the diced apples.
- Heat the frying oil: Heat about an inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the fritters: Drop spoonfuls of batter into the oil and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Drain: Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve: Dust with powdered sugar or serve warm with maple syrup or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Ensure oil is at the right temperature to achieve crispy fritters. Experiment with different apples or bake instead of frying for a lighter version.
