Description

A flavorful Beef & Scallion Stir Fry that embodies family traditions with tender beef and vibrant scallions, all tossed in a savory sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef (flank steak or sirloin), cut into thin strips
  • 1 cup scallions, chopped (whites and greens separated)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Additional vegetables (bell peppers, broccoli, snap peas), optional

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients: slice beef, mince garlic and ginger, and chop scallions.
  2. Heat a large skillet or wok over high heat with a splash of vegetable oil until shimmering.
  3. Add beef strips in a single layer and sear for about 1 minute without stirring.
  4. Add minced garlic and ginger to the skillet, stirring quickly until aromatic.
  5. Incorporate chopped scallion whites and any additional vegetables, stir-frying for 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp.
  6. Pour in soy sauce and sesame oil, stirring until beef is cooked through and sauce thickens slightly. Finish by adding green scallion tops.

Notes

For substitutions, chicken or tofu can be used instead of beef. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan for the best sear.
